Workshop 2011

Ok, here we go!  Workshop is scheduled for February 26, 2011.  I had a little video that Dalyn and I shot yesterday but I can't even get it on the computer!  Is it me or is the computer changing constantly.  It's like you have to educated yourself daily because is always changing.  In a good way, you can do many more things and have all these options but I'm like where did this come from....wait should I click that!  So, enough about that!
The workshop will be held here at my studio.  I posted on facebook and asked around about it and I receive various responses so, I though why not let's just do it!  I have to admit I'm trepidatious about it but everyone has to overcome fear and I know I can do this. After much thought, I decided that the first chapter needs to be about the camera.  How to shoot, exposure, composition, and just a good understanding of this marvelous machine that can freeze time and record our lives.  So, if you got a camera for Christmas and you want to make the most of it, or if you want to go into photography as a business, this workshop is for you.

For all the information go to http://www.kristichappellphoto.com/ and click on workshop.  Call me to reserve your seat at 256-546-1992 or shoot me an email photobykristi@comcast.net.  Any questions let me know! The workshop is an investment of $250.  There is a $100 deposit to secure your seat.  Limited seats are available!  The deposit is due by January 31st, the rest is due by February 18, 2011.  But like I said all its on my my website including the schedule.

Happy Thursday!

Christmas and Rocking the Microphone!

We had a fabulous white Christmas.  Of course I missed my brother, he had his first Christmas in Heaven but, I'm sure he was with us in spirit. The babies are what entertains the adults during our celebration.......luckily Landri and Brady have made it through my mother not eating them up so ma bey Kinley has a chance.  I'm not real sure!  I have put together a slide show of the Henson side of the family.  I took both DSLR and the point and shoot, Canon of course.  I love to document but as Erin and I spoke about your like HOLD ON let me get my gear and you whoop around your well....big gun...canon.  It's sometimes hindering when your trying to socialize with the babies.  I normally shoot this type of situation on a high ISO and a slow shutter speed. Yes, you get blurry pics sometimes but it also gives a feel to it so I just rock it that way so I'm not constantly flashing everyone.  I can not believe that it snowed on Christmas, how awesome is that! It was beautiful! And so was my time with my family!

                                                                  Jenny in the snow!

                                                                    Snow fun!

Did I mention that I learned to rock the microphone, because I did, I rocked it! This is one of Dalyn's gift from Santa.

High School Sweethearts!

Meet Lauren and her fiance Daniel.  They both grew up around Gadsden and graduated from Southside High School.  Like Shane and I, they were high school sweethearts. Not only did they go to the same school, their parents have been friends since they were young.  They vacationed at the beach together and also attended the same church for many years.  They grew up together!  And here they are, still going strong.
Lauren attended Auburn University and is now a second grade teacher, I can tell by her sweetness that she has to be wonderful at what she does.  Daniel will graduate in May from Auburn as well, with a degree in civil engineering. Which, I totally admire, you have to be one smart cookie to design all of those different things......and them work right.
The wedding is set for June 4, 2011.  That is when they will begin a fresh new journey at Southside Baptist Church.  I'm beyond thrilled to photograph their wedding, they are a gorgeous couple!  To see for yourself click here to view the entire slide show of their engagement session.

Meet Emma and Madilyn

These twins girls.....peas in a pod were two weeks old at the time of the session. The proud mom and dad are Clay and Jennifer. I have photographed their engagement, Jen's bridal, the wedding, one year anniversary and now the newest additions to their family. I have so enjoyed documenting so many different steps of their growing world! I appreciate them letting me be apart of it.

Funny story, years ago when I decided I was "camera ready", I started with ball teams. The very first place I went was to a practice ball field close to my house where I knew many of the people there, which I thought would help with someone giving me a chance with starting my dream I dreamed up. After gathering my nerves and getting my little speech together, one of the very if not the very first person I went up to was Sharon, Jennifer's mom. I just thought how interesting the connection of how we have all grown together. I'm looking forward to seeing the girls and their family continue to grow.....it's awesome to be apart of people lives. I love my job! Enjoy the slide show....just click on the link below.

Question from Kristi

I blogged in the last post how I vowed to become better about blogging, with this in mind, I have a question to past, present and even future clients...and photogs too if wish to comment.

I'm notorious for making things harder than they have to be ( Shane loves that about me) so as I finished up a session, I would like to just flow with the work flow and finish up with a blog post but I don't feel I need to post images if the clients have not seen them. I just noticed that ma bey this is part of my blog problem, I get confused on who I have or have not posted. So, the question is, what is your opinion about me post some of your images if you have not seen your slide show or viewed your images. Do you like the fact that I wait? Photogs what do ya'll do is it a part of your workflow?

New Blog Coming Soon!

I admit, the whole blogging thing.......I've not been really good at it. But, anyone can make change for the better so....I'm working with a designer for a new one, that fits me and can tell me what buttons I can and can't push. This stuff is like a foreign language....like widgets and other crazy words that I can't think of right now.

So, this is my vow.....(with right hand up) I will post every session because every single one is important and special to me. And even though my writing skills could be better, actually writing is practice. I will put myself out there and introduce me to the world. Along side me, my Websters dictionary that I've had since high school....branded with the phone number of my B.F.F Monica...although faded but yet still legible.

I really do like the first of the year its a time to renew yourself and make changes. You have to in the world of business you have to keep evolving constantly. So, this is one of my new years resolution, to make changes for the better, for myself and my business. In order be a successful photographer you have to successful in many different areas. Photography is 20% taking pictures and 80% business.

I shall conclude with a few slideshows...........

Photography Workshop

If I put together a workshop, from camera's to having models and going on a photoshoot with me, would anyone be interested? I've had several people want to hang with me but I don't want to try to teach while I'm on a real job. That would not be fair to my clients. I would like to get a count of how many and tell me some things you would want to know.

Chelsey's Senior Session /Gadsden Alabama Photographer

Ok this is just a peek, I don't have the others ready but I had to share! Chelsey is a senior at Gaston High School. I personally think she should consider modeling. Yes, that is Victoria Secret's dressing room. No you can't use it, yes we got kicked out! We did ask, but the girl did not know any better so we did get a few shots before the manager came back from her break. So don't bother trying, even though it's so cool, it's against the rules.

Happy 4th to everyone!

New Products!

Fine Art Acrylics are perfect for clients that are looking for contemporary ways to display their images. Sizes include 16x16, 16x23.5, 19.5x19.5, and 19.5x23.5. We print your images directly on a ¼” thick acrylic substrate, then screen print a layer of white ink on the back. Once screen printed, the acrylic becomes opaque, highlighting the vibrant colors and fine detail within your images. Mount using the stainless standoffs included in your order, which sit 5/8” from the wall. The holes for the standoffs are placed 3/4" in from the edge. It is recommended that you do not use chemicals, cleaners, or abrasive cloths on this substrateine.
Fine Art Metals are a modern approach to traditional Fine Art products. We start the printing process by adding a layer of white ink to the surface of 1”-deep brushed aluminum boxes. Your image is then printed on top of the white base coat. Sizes include 16x16, 16x23.5, 19.5x19.5, and 19.5x23.5. Fine Art Metals are delivered ready-to-hang with brackets on the back of the aluminum box.
